Behavior Cognitive Therapy For Depression Treatment
Behavior cognitive treatment has started recently and has in latest days developed into a very practical choice in depression treatment. This kind of cure is not a fast remedy for depression. It will necessitate hard effort on the branch of the person under depression. And this is really difficult because the environment of depression requires the patient to not have a motivation to look for treatment or undertake his problem. Since depression is governing the situation.
This kind of treating (Cognitive Behavior Treatment) will necessitate the depressed person to make a diary of his thoughts about the major events in his days. The purpose is to matter and modify the feelings that the depressed person will see by his depressed eyes. The target of cognitive treatment is to question and assessment the suppositions that are completed about experiences in the patient's life. The therapy will seek to change illogical beliefs with new obliging and sensible thoughts and suppositions.
This kind of depression therapy can be done on a person basis or in collections. It has confirmed to be doing well in the treating of depression; however the effort is very hard. This people will have to desire to modify their method of view and activities. It can get a huge period for a patient to feel the outcome from their cure. However once the treatment has begun it is extremely profound.
For individuals who have been suffering on and off during their life and never have required this type of therapy, it might be the cure they have looked-for. Behavior Cognitive treatment gets to the basis of the depression source, which is a poorly adapted consideration model. This way is often a method for a depressed people to facilitate their depression in a further stable approach. Time and again medicine treatment will help the people to consider enhanced enough to labor on their troubles, but does not go distant enough in caring for the cause of the depression.
Behavior Cognitive treatment has offered many people with assistance for depression and sadness as well as various mood disorders.

Alcohol depression is very grave and should not be one’s state of living,
however just how one can overcome this form of depression could be quite challenging as two factors are being addressed here: a substance abuse and an emotional disturbance.
Dealing with depression means at the moment you may not be feeling too good. What with low energy, poor sleep and a general feeling of helplessness, naturally finding a solution out of being depressed is a much expected step. Sadly, most people turn to either legal (e.g. Zoloft) and illegal (e.g. marijuana) drugs or the use of drinking alcoholic beverages in a quest to ease the pain, however, research has shown that both illegal drugs and alcohol are marked depressants. (in spite of the buzz they may temporarily give) and speaking of depression drugs from recent studies, these substances just may not be worth the side-effects.
Now on the subject of alcohol use and depressive illnesses; this is actually the worst possible strategy for dealing with depression. Depressed moods can be a direct outcome of substance abuse. Conversely, use of alcohol by people with a depressive disorder may increase the severity of their depression symptoms and thus should be avoided.
Alcohol depression is quite rampant these days as up to 40 per cent of people who drink alcohol heavily have symptoms that resemble depression. However, when these same people are not drinking heavily, only 5 per cent of men and 10 per cent of woman have symptoms meeting the need to be diagnosed for depression.
Even though when used sparingly, alcohol may briefly produce a pleasant and relaxed state of the mind, depression resulting from alcohol is not uncommon. This starts off like anything else, slowly but picking up intensity with time. When alcohol is used sparingly, it may for a while lift the moods; however, when used to treat a depressive illness, tolerance to the effects of it may lead a patient of depression to drink more alcohol in search for a positive effect. This is where the problems begin, one drinks more and more and before you know it, alcohol- being a noted depressant-starts to cause depressive tendencies in the mind.
Alcohol Depression: Effects and Consequences
Now we all know alcohol confuses judgment and makes one more impulsive to take risks, moreover it causes a loss of inhibition and increases aggressive behavior and violent acts even towards one own self. Consequently, when used as a means to curb depression, this should be a particular concern as studies have shown depression can lead to suicide. Generally, a much higher incidence of suicide, both completed and attempted, is associated with alcohol depression.
Moreover, alcohol depression leads to complicated social disorders such as absenteeism, sickness and under-performance. Inevitably, marital problems often arise because of an alcohol problem, add this to the depression problems at hand, it is not surprising that many marriages have suffered due to this particular depressive illness.
In regards to health, alcohol depression can cause a lot of physical problems. These may arise in the liver in the form of hepatitis, cirrhosis or liver failure. Stomach Ulcers, sexual dysfunction and irregular heartbeat are other factors as well. Now these are just symptoms that result from excessive alcohol use, add to this the effects of depression on the body…needless to say, this particular form of depressive illness is a very serious and grave one. Here are the symptoms of this particular kind of emotional disorder.
Alcohol Depression: Symptoms indicating its presence
There are a number of pointers that should lead one to consider if one has an alcohol depression problem. In no particular order, they include:
1. Using alcohol to try to escape from one’s worries and trouble.
2. Drinking too much alcohol everyday.
3. Using alcohol to induce sleep.
4. Drinking this excessive alcohol alone.
5. Feeling an immense guilt about one’s excessive drinking
Thankfully, as with all things there is hope, however one has to have the desire to change.
Enumerated are some helpful tips for this emotional disorder resulting from excessive drinking.
Alcohol Depression: Helpful solutions.
Depressive symptoms resulting from alcohol might indeed be quite difficult to curb, However, as with anything, the more one works at it, the better the chances of success.
It always helps to know the cause of one’s reckless desire to drink in the first place. These may be marital, financial or even spiritual problems. Therefore these issues should be addressed by competent counseling, reading self-help books and even a good old talk with one’s creator.
Moreover, a simple fast or restricted diet on a seasonal juicy fruit can aid to detoxify the body of alcoholic tendencies. Now this may sound very unconventional, but according to Professor Arnold Ehret, this method has been used successfully to aiding many an alcoholic to give up excessive drinking. Dr. Stanley Burroughs also attested to this in his writings known as the Master Cleanser. Of course 60% of the battle may perhaps be the patient’s desire for change in the first place.
In addition, physical exercise, besides occupying one’s time, also goes a long way to first aiding in detoxifying the body and helping with alcohol depression as this method exercises the motor centers of the brain, making the blood flow away from the emotional activity center; consequently one becomes more receptive to positive thoughts. Yoga is highly recommended as a choice for exercise here as several benefits lay in its use as an alternative depression treatment. From the intense relaxation and stress relief that arises from its use, to the increase of alpha and theta waves in the right portion of the brain ( a noted characteristic of optimistic people), yoga as a means of coping with alcohol depression, though admittedly may be unconventional, is indeed a wise choice.
One major step in overcoming alcohol depression is the desire for change. Consequently if a relative or loved one expresses the need for help, it is advised to immediately lend a helping hand and walk them through the steps to redemption. If however one is alone in these struggles, well, the internet in constantly making the world a smaller place or help may just be a phone call away…as long as one makes the move, the spiritual forces that are ever inherent in our own minds will guide one to the right path for success. The tips provided thus far can definitely help as well.
Alcohol depression need not be one’s state of living, with the drug-free methods of a positive thinking, and even diet and proper exercise, its symptoms, causes and effects can definitely be overcome.

It seems that so much of the information available about ADHD is about children with the disorder. What about those of us that get diagnosed as adults? More and more adults are learning that they have this disorder after their children are diagnosed or after their own life becomes unmanageable. Everyday life seems to be a struggle for many ADHD Adults and they can’t figure out why. It doesn’t help that there is so little information out there for adults with this disorder.
ADHD can affect every area of ones life causing life to feel difficult and stressful. Handling the many areas of ones adult life can be hard to do without the external structure and behavior regulation that was provided to you as a child by parents and teachers. The tasks of adulthood generally require more self-regulation and your deficits become more apparent. You may have difficulty finding and keeping jobs, trouble maintaining routine and organization, and have problems with self-discipline.
ADHD is different for everybody and not everyone has the same symptoms or struggles. Symptoms are different from childhood to adulthood as well. Then there are the issues of gender and hormones but I will save that for another article. Today I will focus on the possible Adult ADHD symptoms.
Problems with social skills and adaptive functions can be very stressful to relationships. Adults with ADHD may have a greater likelihood of family violence, marital discord, dissatisfaction, divorce, multiple marriages and parenting difficulties.
Common work related problems are difficulties with integrating work demands with your personal responsibilities. Adults with ADHD have difficulty planning and creating their own internal structure. Problems with time management, chronic lateness, difficulty completing paperwork and meeting deadlines are very common.
Many times ADHD in adults goes unrecognized and therefore untreated because of other illnesses that can occur along with it. Most often depression and anxiety symptoms are the sole focus of treatment. If the ADHD is not treated at the same time it can contribute to the failure of medication and psychotherapy. Once you are familiar with your specific areas of difficulty you can share them with your doctor and work together to find a solution to all of your problems.
Some Adult Symptoms:
Always on the Go
Inner mental restlessness and fidgeting
Easily bored
Risk taking
Substance abuse
Social problems can lead to:
• antisocial behavior
• possible criminal activity
• poor self esteem
Deficits in self awareness and self regulation
Workaholic
Over scheduling, becoming overwhelmed and difficulty prioritizing
Constant activity can cause family tension
Talks excessively
Low frustration and stress tolerance can lead to:
• losing temper
• irritability
• moodiness
• verbal outbursts
• overreacting to stressful events
• quit jobs
• ending relationships
• drive too fast
• addictive personality
Difficulty sustaining attention
Moody
Paralyzing procrastination
Poor time management due to lack of awareness of time
Disorganized
ADHD is not all bad, however; it can be a great gift once you learn how to manage your particular weaknesses. By focusing on your strengths you will find that life can be joyful and much less stressful.

It’s bad enough that men and women seem like they are from different planets sometimes. Add ADD to the relationship and you feel like you are from different universes entirely.
Not only do you feel like you don’t speak the same language but you often wonder if you even see the same reality. Making things more complicated is the fact that so many adults are walking around with undiagnosed ADD and don’t even know it. It's hard to find solutions when you don't even know what the problem is.
I was one of those undiagnosed adults who unwittingly caused damage to my marriage without even knowing it. If we’d only known about it we could have saved ourselves and those around us from a lot of pain. I was not diagnosed until after we separated and we never had a chance to understand why we were having difficulty communicating until it was too late. Because we have three daughters together we still have to find a way to communicate for their sake.
There is hope if you get treatment and learn about what your ADD symptoms are and how to cope with them. Ignorance is not bliss in this case. What you don’t know will destroy the relationship if you don’t get help and learn some strategies to deal with your symptoms.
One of the most common problems is communication. It seems that most Adults with ADD seem to have problems in this area. Without good communication the foundation of the marriage will start to crumble. Anger and resentment will build in both partners until there is nothing left.
Some common issues that the Non-ADD spouses have with their ADD spouse:

The with epidemic of obesity plaguing North America, it can come as a surprise to many that there are a number of people who suffer from excessive weight loss. There are many common reasons for this, including eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, depression, too much stress and anxiety. Of course, there is the possibility that someone who has a sudden loss of appetite could very well be suffering from a physical terminal illness; there are some people who have a sudden loss of appetite that are physically healthy, but do not feel that they are suffering from any kind of depression.
For anyone to be able to function properly, as well as be physically and mentally healthy, they have to eat enough to give their body what it needs in order to keep running. With nutrient deficiencies, the body can be open to more sicknesses and problems than if it had everything that it needed. The body is supposed to crave food in the form of hunger when it is running low on the fuels it needs. This is then supposed to lead a person to have something to eat. People who suffer from a loss of appetite seem to be missing this connection. Their body might be hungry, but their mind is not telling them that they should eat. Even if the person believes that they are mentally fit, not having a decent appetite is not normal. This can lead to worse problems that may eventually lead to depression or other eating disorders such as anorexia. Without enough food to fuel the body, a person can become fatigued, irritable, edgy and/or lethargic. Not having the appetite to eat enough means that something is not right. It could be that you might be a little overstressed, a little depressed; a loss of appetite is usually caused by something even if the individual doesn't believe so.
Someone who finds they are starting to lose weight, but don't understand why they don't feel hungry should seriously consider consulting a therapist sooner than later. If the problem is dealt with soon enough, this can reduce the amount of damage done to the body caused by a lack of proper nutrition. Someone with a concern like this can easily contact an online therapist from their computer at home. The consultation does not have to take place downtown in the therapist's or counselor's office. As long as an internet connection is obtainable, contact with the online therapist can be made. The online therapist can communicate with the patient and work to find out why this person would have such a loss of appetite as to cause a loss of weight. In most cases, the online therapist will be able to find the reason after communicating with the patient and will be able to help the patient find their appetite again. When the cause of the loss of appetite has been found and dealt with, the patient will usually start to get their appetite back.

Anorexia symptoms usually surface in young people around puberty. This condition involves the people intentionally starving themselves to lose weight. It always involves the person experiencing extreme weight loss. People who suffer from this condition often look emaciated; however, they feel that they are still overweight.
In many cases, people with this condition need to be hospitalized because they are so under nourished. An individual with anorexia symptoms will be terrified of gaining weight. They refuse to maintain a body weight that is consistent with their particular build. They are obsessed with food and weight. They could partake in unusual eating rituals, such as refusing to eat in front of anyone.
An anorexia symptom with women is that they could lose their monthly menstrual cycle. A man could become impotent. The majority of sufferers of this condition are women. Another symptom is that the individual will keep to a strict exercise routine in order to prevent any weight gain at all.
Another peculiar eating habit that is an anorexia symptom is that the person will often cut their food into tiny bite size pieces. It also involves eating one piece at a time. A sufferer of this condition could also experience periods of binge eating because they are in fact so hungry. You may notice the person is constantly weighing himself or herself before and after eating. Even though they may not be eating, they could be talking about food all the time. They may prepare meals for friends and family but not participate in eating any of it.
Anorexia symptoms can be biological, behavioral and physical as well. Rapid weight loss of up to fifteen percent of a person’s body weight is often associated with this condition. Regardless of the symptoms, it is extremely important that the individual suffering from this condition seek professional help as soon as possible. The first step would be to contact your physician.

Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating and engaging in inappropriate ways of counteracting the bingeing (using laxatives, for example) in order to prevent weight gain. The word "bulimia" is the Latin form of the Greek word boulimia, which means "extreme hunger." A binge is consuming a larger amount of food within a limited period of time than most people would eat in similar circumstances. Most people with bulimia report feelings of loss of control associated with bingeing, and some have mildly dissociative experiences in the course of a binge, which means that they feel disconnected from themselves and from reality when they binge.
Causes Of Bulimia Nervosa Erosion of tooth enamel because of repeated exposure to acidic gastric contents. Dental cavities, sensitivity to hot or cold food. Swelling and soreness in the salivary glands (from repeated vomiting). Culture. Women in the U.S. are under constant pressure to be very thin. This "ideal" is not realistic for most women. But seeing images of flawless, thin females everywhere can make it hard for women to feel good about their bodies. More and more, men are also feeling pressure to have a perfect body. Families. It is likely that bulimia runs in families. Many people with bulimia have sisters or mothers with bulimia. Parents who think looks are important, diet themselves, or judge their children's bodies are more likely to have a child with bulimia. Sometimes, people put pressure on themselves, or the pressure might come from teachers, coaches, or parents. Media images are part of the problem. Women and men in movies are usually very thin, sending the message that only skinny people are beautiful.
Signs and symptoms When you have bulimia, you regularly engage in episodes of binge eating followed by attempts to prevent weight gain. A binge is considered eating a larger amount of food than most people would eat under similar situations. Repeatedly eating large amounts of food in a short period of time (less than 2 hours). Frequently getting rid of the calories you've eaten (purging) by making yourself vomit, fasting, exercising too much, or misusing laxatives, diuretics, ipecac syrup, or enemas. Misuse of these medicines can lead to serious health problems and even death.A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating)
Treatment Of Bulimia Nervosa Psychotherapy Psychotherapy is a general term for a way of treating bulimia by talking about your condition and related issues with a mental health provider. Psychotherapy is also known as therapy, talk therapy, counseling or psychosocial therapy.
Medications Some medications can be extremely helpful in treatment a person who suffers from bulimia. As always, the medication should be carefully monitored, especially since the patient may be vomiting or taking large amounts of laxatives, which may impact on the medication's use and effectiveness. A trusting and honest relationship must be established between the physician and the individual or mediation compliance will almost certainly become an issue.
Drug Therapy Drug therapy in the treatment of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa should be used in combination with psychotherapy and nutritional therapy.

An eating disorder can consist of starving, purging or stuffing. Regardless of the exact causes of eating disorders, the individual should seek professional help as soon as possible.
In regards to anorexia nervosa, studies have found that over half the sufferers have genetic factors influencing the condition. One of the main causes of eating disorders is stress. People deal with stress in different ways. People with an eating problem, will turn to food when they are stressed. This is the case with binge over eating.
When some people are stressed or unhappy, they revert to eating comfort foods that are usually high in fat, sugar and calories. These foods seem to calm a person’s response to stress. Many people lead stressful lives and often they can encounter a problem with eating. Some personality type’s lead can lead to the causes of eating disorders.
People with obsessive-compulsive personalities or someone who is overly sensitive are prime personality types for a potential eating disorder.
Another study has determined that in the case of anorexia, the causes of eating disorders can be traced to genetics. If a woman's mother or sister has had this disorder then that woman is twelve times more likely to suffer from the same condition. In addition, they are four more times likely to develop bulimia as well.
Studies have determined that people with eating disorders have perfectionist like personalities. They expect too much from themselves and are very hard on themselves. They are always concerned with their weight. They are usually never on an even keel. Everything is either good or it is bad, never in between.
Other causes of eating disorders include family issues. Such as being smothered by an overprotective family. Some people feel abandoned by their family. Others feel that they are not loved and all alone. There are even parents that will place such overvalue on physical appearance that the child will develop an eating disorder. Another example is the parent that makes critical comments about their child, this is especially true for young girls who are easily drawn into placing overvalue on their appearance.
In conclusion, there are many causes of eating disorders. Regardless of the cause, it is very important that the individual afflicted seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Anxiety disorders are estimated to be the most common mental illness that affects the adult population of a country. For example, about 18% of the adult population of the United States of America suffers from some form of anxiety. That is almost 1 out of every 5 people.
It seems that women are twice as likely than men to be affected by general anxiety disorder, panic disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. The same amount of women and men suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder.
You may or may not have considered how anxiety can negatively impact the economy of a country. I was surprised by the figures when I first read about it. It appears that anxiety disorders may cost the USA more than $42 billion dollars each year. People that suffer from anxiety disorders often visit doctors and other health care services to seek relief from what are actually anxiety symptoms.
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) may be described as an unrealistic worrying that usually lasts more than six months which centers around things such as your health, finances or job. This chronic worrying leads to symptoms such as irritability, dizziness, insomnia and muscle aches.
Social anxiety disorder is an excessive fear about embarrassing yourself publicly in front of other people or about how you are going to be judged by others people. This may cause physical symptoms such as sweating, blushing, dizziness and a racing heartbeat.
Panic disorder is when a person suffers from frequent panic attacks. The person may experience a racing heartbeat, chest pain, sweating, trembling and strange tingling sensations. The person may even think that he is having a heart attack.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder usually develops when people are troubled by persistent obsessive thoughts that reflect excessive worrying such as being contaminated or behaving wrongly. This then leads to a person developing the need to frequently perform a ritual routine or compulsion. This may be an attempt to find relief from the anxiety caused by the obsessive thinking. Common routines can include washing of the hands or the repetition of certain phrases.
Anxiety treatments may include cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation therapy and psychotherapy. Anxiety medication can also be prescribed. Common drugs used for treatment are SSRI's, MAOI's and tricyclic anti-depressants.
There appears to be a connection between anxiety and other disorders such as depression, insomnia, hypersomnia, eating problems and alcohol abuse.

Did you know that anxiety or panic is a normal reaction to stress and that it can help you deal with tense situations at home, at the office or if you are studying for a final exam.
However, when anxiety becomes excessive -- to the point where it interferes with your life or your work -- it becomes a disabling disorder.
Clause of anxiety attack
Anxiety disorder affects about 2% of the population? and its symptoms usually develop before age 25.
While there is no clear set of causes for an anxiety/panic attack, most experts believe that anxiety disorder stems from a combination of psychological and physical factors. For example, some experts emphasize the role of stressful events or unconscious conflicts that happened in early childhood.
Anxiety/panic disorder typically begins in late adolescence or early childhood. It typically occurs in response to a sudden loss. Also, severe separation anxiety that you experienced during early childhood can trigger anxiety/panic disorder.
It tends to run in families
There is a tendency for anxiety/panic attacks to run in families. So, if someone in your family has anxiety/panic disorder, you are at an increased risk for developing it. It would seem that there is a connection between this disorder and major life transitions such as graduating from college and entering the workplace, having a baby, or getting married. In addition, severe stress, such as the death of a loved one, a job loss, or divorce can also trigger an attack
Another theory
There is another theory that anxiety/panic attacks are caused by alterations in the biochemistry of your brain, especially in norepinephrine, serotonin, and gamma-aminobutyric acid activity.
This theory holds that anxiety/panic attacks are caused by over-activity in what's called the locus ceruleus. This is the part of the brain that triggers a response to danger. It is thought that people who are subject to panic attacks are unwittingly sending alarms to this part of the brain which could wreck havoc with your perspective.
Anxiety attack treatments
There are a number of treatments available for anxiety/panic attacks, including prescription drugs, herbal supplements and steps you can take yourself such as exercise and relaxation exercises.

ADHD and sleep issues tend to go hand in hand. It seems a lot of people are finding it difficult to get the sleep they need. The key issue for those with ADHD is difficulty regulating alertness. The pace of modern society is overwhelming and we are constantly bombarded with information. It’s no wonder our distracted ADHD brains have trouble relaxing long enough for us to get the sleep we desperately need.
Research has shown that lack of sleep causes many disorders to become worse. Lack of sleep causes delayed reaction time and impaired vigilance making it just as bad or worse for drivers than alcohol. Unfortunately there is no law against driving while sleep impaired. Sleep deprivation also causes mood changes, impaired concentration, irritability, depression, fatigue, decreased motivation, hyperactivity, behavior problems, impulsivity, muscle aches, low stress tolerance, changes in appetite, frequent infections, and memory problems. All of your ADHD symptoms get worse when you don’t get enough sleep!
The irony with ADHD sleep issues is that it is a dual problem of both getting to sleep AND waking up from sleep. Those of us with ADHD have a tendency to get stuck in whatever level of activity we are in. We tend to be sleepy when we need to be awake and awake when we need to be asleep.
Many people with ADHD are ‘night owls’ and seem to prefer waking up late and staying up late. It is especially prevalent in those who have ‘no sense of time’ and are often running late and forgetting things because they only understand ‘now’ or ‘later’ as it relates to time. There is either plenty of time or not enough. The same seems to go with sleeping, you tend to get too much or not enough and regulating sleep can be difficult.
There are several issues that seem to happen to those with ADHD:
• Restless brain - Once the head hits the pillow the brain turns on and starts working overtime. It is common to take 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep.
• Restless sleep – what sleep does occur is not always the restful, rejuvenating kind. It is common to toss and turn.
• Difficulty waking up – once sleep does take over it is extremely difficult to wake up. Even when you ‘wake up’ it can take quite a while for the brain to follow.
• Fatigue - There is also difficulty staying awake when the brain disengages and boredom sets in. Some people with ADHD report sudden extreme drowsiness and possibly falling asleep abruptly.
Now that we know the problem what can we do about it? There is no easy answer since everyone is different and thus there is no one size fits all remedy. The first thing to look at is your bed time habits. Do you need complete silence or do you need some sort of ‘white’ noise to block the brain chatter? Do you sleep better with an empty stomach or after a light healthy snack? Do you have a regular bedtime? It is helpful to have a set bedtime EVERY night so the body gets used to the habit of falling asleep at that time.
Other suggestions would be to use your bedroom only for sleeping and relaxing. You don’t want anything that will stimulate your brain activity when you are trying to fall asleep. If you usually read exciting novels in bed, pay bills or discuss your daily activities with your spouse right before you go to bed then it would be helpful to change those habits so they don’t disturb your ability to sleep at night.
Try using your ADHD medication to help you wake up in the morning. Set two alarms each morning, one being an hour earlier than you intend to wake up. When the first alarm goes off, take your daily ADHD medication and then go back to sleep until the second alarm goes off. By this time your medication should be working and you will find it much easier to get up and face the day.
You might also try the reverse method for getting to sleep. You will have to get your doctor’s permission to try this method since you will need an extra dose of medication each day. Since ADHD medications have a paradoxical effect of calming restlessness it helps some people to take a dose of medicine about 45 minutes to an hour before bedtime. This allows your brain and body fall asleep at the same time. Caffeine can also work but finding the right dose can be more difficult, especially since caffeine is a strong diuretic and too much can cause night waking.
It may take some time to find out what works for you but it will be well worth the effort to get a good night’s sleep.

You probably know someone who is depressed. You may be wondering about yourself. The way you feel right now--does it fit the definition of depression? Clinical depression is a serious illness that affects millions, so you are right to be concerned. Understanding depression is a good first step toward treatment. Let's see if we can figure this out together.
First of all, having days when you feel down, or sad, is normal. We all have days when we feel blue, or down. It is just part of life. If those sad, blue feelings become your most predominant feelings however, like a dark persistent cloud, your emotions may not be just a "mood" but depression.
Depression is not a mood that can be alleviated by will power. Depression is a mental disorder that can change how you think. It changes your outlook on life and the future. It affects your beliefs and how, and if, you want to interact with others.
Normal feelings of sadness and that feeling of feeling "blue" and the feelings of depression are very similar. How to tell the difference? Basically it is about time and intensity. The emotions associated with depression will not only be more intense, they are also longer lasting. With depression there is often difficulty to function on a day to day basis.
Two weeks is typically the threshold for diagnosing depression. If after a negative life experience you are still withdrawn and sad after more than two weeks it is possible you have entered into a depressive episode. Without treatment a depressive episode can last for months, sometimes years.
How is depression treated? The good news is that depression is very treatable. Combining therapy with medication is usually quite effective. Investigating some of the newer "Energy Therapies" such as Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapas Acupressure Technique can bring some impressive results and can be done in conjunction with traditional methods.
No one is immune to the effects of depression. It is not an indication of weakness or failure. If you suspect that you or someone you know may be suffering from depression, it's important to get professional advice as soon as possible.

Depression is probably the most common psychiatric complaint and was described by the medical institutions as the first time of Hippocrates, who calls melancholy.
The course of the disorder is extremely variable from one person to another; whether mild or severe acute or chronic. If untreated, depression in May last an average of four months or more.
